From humble beginnings as the Potato Clan to its most recent iteration as The {un}Known, our community has undergone numerous changes and transformations over the years.

By exploring the twists and turns of our history, we hope you gain a deeper understanding of our unique identity, culture, and values, and how they have shaped us over time.

"We believe that it's important to look back to where we started in order to truly understand where we are now."

This story begins in 2018. The clan's founders, Vic and Tyler, played Fortnite together almost every day, and they would always have matching names. This led to many people asking if they were part of a clan.

Of course, they weren't at the time, but after many requests and some planning, Potato Clan was founded in September of 2018 with the goal of creating a community of gamers who enjoy playing together in a casual, friendly environment.

With that, it was decided that 'Potato' would be the clan's tag, as a lighthearted reference to average/low level players and PCs.

As the clan grew, a problem started to arise regarding the chosen clan tag. It was too long for a lot of member's usernames, and prevented them from putting the clan tag in their usernames.

So, in May 2019, the clan changed its name to Non-Toxic Gaming, with 'NTG' as the new clan tag. From there on, everyone was able to put the clan tag in their name, and the clans popularity began to skyrocket.

However, the clan's focus briefly shifted in April 2020 when the two Founders decided to prioritize a smaller, more tight-knit community over vast numbers.

To reflect this new direction, the clan was renamed to 'Quantity over Quality', or 'QoQ'. When moving to the new name, several members came with them, and they all began anew.

By August 2020, the clan was ready to expand again and attract new members. With this decision, the clan was re-branded to 'Demonized Λngels', with 'DΛ' as the new clan tag.

In November 2021, the leadership of DΛ unfortunately decided to shut down the clan due to various reasons. However, many of the members stayed in touch and collaborated with the clan's founders on various small projects during their hiatus.

In April 2023, Vic, Tyler and some of the former DΛ members started up the clan again. This time, they chose the name 'The {un}Known', with the clan tag '{un}', or the more commonly used option, '404'.

The use of the brackets around "un" is meant to convey the idea that the group is both known and unknown. A nod towards the fact that gamers are often stereotyped or misunderstood by those outside of the gaming community. While within The {un}Known, everyone is accepted and valued for who they are.

"A community that focuses on inclusivity and creating a safe space where everyone would feel welcomed."

With this new chapter in the clan's history, Vic, Tyler and the members of The {un}Known are excited to continue creating a fun and welcoming community for all.

Looking back, it's clear that we have come a long way from our humble beginnings as the Potato Clan, but while our name and identity may have changed, our commitment to creating an inclusive community for everyone has remained throughout the years.

As we move forward into the future, we are excited to see where our journey will take us next, and we remain dedicated to building a community that reflects our values and mission.
